#RUNWAY/FASHION: SA FASHION WEEK: URBAN ZULU SpringSummer2015

Bias here. Because I am Zulu.
The term Urban Zulu is that which resonates with the greater nguni population.
We are a people, trying to make it in a metropolis, yet holding unflinchingly to our values of ubuntu, regality, pose and the gracefulness of ancient warrior kings and queens.
Urban Zulu embodies that.
The showcase featured bare-chestedness, warrior wraps, bold colours in the redness of our soil and clay, evergreeness, leather accents of our livestock and good solid, "fertile" lines in the women's wear.

And ironically, the name Urban Zulu, is not to segregate and give exclusivity to one particular tribe.
It is a movement that a mosotho, m'tswana, m'pedi, m'xhosa, m'swati, m'lungu...
can identify with.
The movement being:
We are all just human... trying to do this Life thing....holding onto what we are ancestorially...

and who we are to be.

Well done to Papi, head designer of Urban Zulu.
